  • gear break in method

    my 12 bolt should be here this week, im wondering what is the best way to break in the gears? thanks

    PERFORMANCE: whisper lid, mac headers w/ offroad y pipe, SLP Loudmouth, LS1 hotcam, ls6 springs, Predator, ngk tr6's, spec stage 3 x-pad, steel billet flywheel, 5177, purge, bottle heater, moser 12 bolt, 4.30 gears, tb coolant bypass, FRA, !cags, !egr, !A.I.R.
    SUSPENSION : eibach pro kit, bmr boxed lca & relocation brackets
    APPERENCE : clear corners, camaro fill in on front bumper and back, black and silver SS badges

    don't lay into for 500 miles

    drive 30 minutes let cool for 10, (go have a burger at mcd's) repeat
    nice steady speed, varying slightly
    stuff like that.

    don't over do it..

    aren't strange broken in at the shop?

        Yep, let the gears go through two heat cycles and they should be good to go.

          isnt it funny brohs......... we didnt do that with our O.E. gears when we got the cars.....................

            And you shouldn't have to do it with a properly setup aftermarket either.

                Heck, I did a burnout with James in the car after backing out of his shop. He even told me that if they are setup right, no break in needed. I had over 50K miles on those gears when I sold the car. Never a hint of noise out of them and many 1.7x short times. Not too shabby for a daily driver 6spd
