  • M6 4th gear sticking??!!

My '02 CE Trans Am's 4th gear is sticking every now and then. I just bought it a couple of mo's ago and its all stock (of which I'm modifying), so it still has the skip shift in tack.
Whenever I rip through the gears fairly fast, it seems to lock into 4th and won't come out!? The only way to get it out is to come to a stop, hold the clutch in, then it comes free. It makes me think the skip shift is possibly causing this, but not sure....any ideas??? Has anyone else had this happen and what did you do to fix it?

The skip shift solenoid blocks the shifter in 1st. Doesn't do anything fo 4th. But you could test that theory by simply unplugging the skip shift solenoid. It will set a codes and turn on the SES light, but won't afftect anything.

Sounds like the force of heavy shifts may have bent the shifter fork.

I have had that happen to me; however, it was not when i was driving enthusiastically, rather, under normal driving conditions. I was unable to pull it out of a particular gear until i frantically wiggled it free. It is a very rare occurence for me though, perhaps 2 times in the past 18 months. i know this is not much help :b

Reading up on LS1Tech forum sounds like possibly "sleeves" or a rebuild coming?? Sounds like it a fairly common problem, but several different issues.
