  • Antifreeze question

I need antifreeze for a PT Cruiser. Everything I check says I need Mopar

Antifreeze. Is there anything special about Mopar antifreeze? Are they pulling my chain or do I need to pay the $14.95 for the Mopar? I don't want to mix something that I shouldn't mix but I don't want to buy something I don't have to have.

It's probably the equivalent of Dex-cool. Or you could just drain the stuff, get it flushed, and throw some cheap green stuff in and be done with it.

It's not the same as dex cool. It is red but it doesn't gunk up like dex cool does. I have not looked to see if it is available at the local auto place. Do not use prestone green or dex cool on it. I can't say about the Prestone red stuff.

My wife's BMW uses blue antifreeze. weird

Well I see she decided to get the PT. Has she joined the Georgia PT club yet? If she hasn't I know who runs it.

I am trying to get as hold of a friend that used to work at a Chrysler dealership to see if there is an alternative. edit/add he said "I guess the green stuff but I have never looked for anything else." I'd use the Chrysler stuff if it were me.

But I have to ask, how low and why is it low? Our PT has never used fluid.

It was my fault. I open the cap and for got to tighten it and blew it out. So I guess I will back flush it and put the green crap in so all the cars will be the same.

If it were me i run that prestone or whatever brand it is universal antifreeze its like a yellow green color but that would be fine to top it off with. im mixed it with dex cool and green many times with no problems.
