Baffling in the hood. The heavier water falls and drains out, while the lighter air flows up and over the baffle into the air box.

With the factory style hood, I was able to cut about 1/2" off the bottom of the front baffle (right inside the "nostrils"), and about 1" off the top of the rear baffle (actually the inner part of the hood) without seeing any problems with water getting to the air filter.

After that, knowing the car was going to be "track only", or street driven only on exceptionally clear days, I took the baffles out completely. At that point, water entering the nostrils became a problem, even when the car was being towed in the rain. I have a foam plug (Moroso hood scoop plug) that inserts from the back of the hood opening, and its kept in place when the car is being towed, or if there is rain.

        thanks

i just installed a bolt on vfn ram air hood on mine ie(no baffels) so now i am just trying to get ideas on my set up. mine is a dailey driver and i had just about decided to use an insert of the style moroso and harwood make for the aero scoops. since you already figured it out pretty much that helps me a little on my decision. i will post later on how it actually works out! thank s again guys!
