  • Opti from Advance Auto Parts?

I found the opti at advance auto for 149.99. Has anyone ever used one of these? It has a lifetime warranty so I assume that it must be of decent quality. They say that it is the base of the distributor with the optical sensor and metal wheel in it.
    *EDIT*
They also have the complete dist with the cap, rotor and opti for 225.00 with lifetime warranty.

Its only 1/2 of the Opti. If you are having a problem with the Opti bearing, or the optical sensor, this would fix that problem. If you are having a problem with the cap and rotor, it wouldn't.

What problem are you trying to solve?

My recommendation is that you only buy a genuine AC/Dleco (Delphi) complete unit.

LOL, wrong assumption. Merely a hook to get you to buy.

advance auto is hit and miss, theres one here in my town, get most of my parts from there, father got a 60K out of a set of their middle of the road pads(dad does 25-30K a year) only reason we changed em was cuz the rotors warped from the hills we live on. but i got a set of plug wires and they lasted only 3 months

So what are we talking here, a year or two, or a couple of months???
I just need to get it on the road again. I plan on doing the coil pack setup this summer. The stealership said they wanted over 700.00 for the complete unit. All I have left to do is remove the water pump, I already removed the fans, radiator, hoses, intake and maf. Advance won't have it till wednesday and that is my next day off so it works out.

Impossible to say, but test fire it before you put the water pump on, to be sure it is good out of the box.
