  • Trans Question

Hey I was just wondering if anyone else may have experienced this or have any idea what is going on-- MY 96 Z28 A4 sat for several months and after getting it going it is shifting odd. It does not want to go into the next gear, it is not slipping or anything it just does not even try it just keeps reving up. Once it is about 2000rpm(usually sometimes it is higher) I can lift up off the gas and then press it again and it will shift into the next gear and it does this in every gear. I am not sure if it is something in the computer or mechanical. I did have some engine work done while it was sitting.

Thanks for any info or ideas

Why not try a Trans Service. When Was the last time it was done? Even better, a trans flush!

I agree that is where I would start first. Then take it to a reputable trans shop for an inspection/test. Good Luck

What kind of engine work did you have done?

If you decide to get the trans service as previously suggested. And your car has alot of miles on it and/or the trans hasnt been serviced in a while make sure you tell the mechanic that you dont want him to use any detergent when he is flushing the trans. This will cause it to start slipping.
