  • Rear wheel bearings issue

I just want to be sure about the "normal" play between the wheel/shaft unit and the differential gears.
The push/pull wheel manouvre cause a quarter centimeter play and the pull/push up-down & front-rear wheel manouvre caused a play before I replace the rear wheel bearing in the driver's wheel only.

Funny thing, the passenger's wheel did not have any kind of play and after the bearing replacement, a play exists when I pull/push the wheel/shaft combo. Now the 2 wheels plays even ... Defective ACDelco wheel bearings???

Thanks in advance for your imput

i changed my rear axles and bearings last august. as i recall there wasnt much if any play top to bottom. was just enough to slip the axles through. there was a little bit laterally from wheel to the diff.. but not enough to slide the c-clips out at all after the keeper was re-installed in the diff. maybe 1/8 of an inch? cant remember exactlly. i would geuss the ones you got are defective or the wrong size if there is vertical play at the wheel. maybe a possiblilty that the bearings at the diff end of the tubes are worn causing the axle to pivot a little? also check that the axles themselves arent worn. any groove at all on the race area is no good and they will have to be replaced. i got federal mogul (national bearings) at advanced auto parts and new axles at a local gear shop. the bearing part number was 5707. hope it helps and good luck with it.

      Thanks man.

A friend of mine told me about the O ring must be installed aside the C clip. It works decresed the shaft horizontal play and noise.
