I have an 83 Trans Am and I was wondering if there was anyone out there that knows what years would fit my car. Such as doors, Rear ends, Floor Pans, Etc.
Thanks

Most 3rd Gens, and ALL 4th Gens use the same 10-bolt 7.5"/7.625" GM rear axle assembly. A few 3rd Gens had a 9-bolt, made in Australia by Borg-Warner. While they will all bolt directly into the 3rd or 4th Gen chassis, the 4th Gen rears are 4" wider than the 3rd Gen rears, so you will have a problem with the wheels sticking out too far if you put a 4th Gen axle assembly under your 3rd Gen. You could also buy 4th Gen rear wheels, with a large postive offset, along with a 4th Gen rear, and they wouldn't stick out. But then they wouldn't match the front wheels. All the rest of the rear suspension parts are interchangable 82-02.
The front suspensions are totally different between the 3rd (strut -type suspension) and 4th Gens (coil-over, unequal upper/lower A-arms), so you are stuck with 82-92 parts. Engines can be swapped only with complete transplant of any computer and harness components with the engine. Carbed engines are easier to swap. Starting in 94, all the auto trannies are electronically controlled, so you can't use those in a 3rd Gen. The T5 in the V6 4th Gens is similar to the 3rd Gen T5, but the 4th Gen T56 6-speed requires adapters to work.
Driveshafts are interchangable.
