  • walbro question

These are two walbro pumps. One is for F-body's, the other is for Mustangs.

Do these kits have the same pump? They are both 255lph and flow 90 psi. Is there any difference in the pump?

I have a failed walbro sitting in my tank. It's the one I bought about 4 years ago. Will the mustang pump go right in and do the job? There is a guy selling one locally for a great price. I'd rather do that then wait with online ordering.

I cant see it being the same when they have diff part #'s. But not sure.

A fuel pump is a fuel pump. The only difference would be fitting arrangement and flow potential. Since they are rated the same, it's likely the same pump. You'll likely need to modify some things in order to make it work. Thinks like wiring and fluid connections.

Surprisingly, there are problems even when the parts have the same number. There have been problems with two different Walbro pumps being supplied by Racetronix, both with the same part #. One has the outlet connection directly in the center, and will not fit correctly in the F-Body bucket. The other has the outlet offset to one side, and works correctly.

For more info on the problem, go to the "Fuel and Ignition" forum on CamaroZ28.com. There are photos of what works and what doesn't.

This is the only thread I could find.

The pump I have in there now has the off centered inlet. I have no clue about the fuel pump being sold here locally. I've asked the seller and I'll await his response, but if it is the off center inlet type, is it safe to say that it's the exact same pump?

This website shows that the GS340 (which is what I have now) is the same part # as the mustang 255lph pump.

          Looking at this page...

I'm thinking if the pump he has is the same as F20000169 then I'll be good to go. That's the same pump I have in there now.
