Ok. finally got my jethot longtubes and am going to take it down to the firehouse and put in a bay up on jacks. Any how too's? Never done it before. got a basic idea but...... heard you have to remove the starter ect. Any place online have a step by step i can follow? It has shorties on there now and new plugs about 4k miles ago. I could pay someone to do it but then ill never learn. figure thats the best way to learn is to just do it. Is it better to jack up whole car or just the front? thanks.

oh and no ypipe yet so itll be open for a few days till i find one.(loud im told)

Some shorties have great plug access. Pull all your plugs - I know with my Mac headers I can pull all my plugs in a matter of minutes.

It's an extremely easy job if you already have headers. Just pull the plugs, unbolt the headers, and drop the new ones in.

Joe had something written up. He'll post it when he sees it.

I have a writeup for installing a set of JBA shorties.... not long tubes. But it might provide some pointers. I think I wrote this at least 12 years ago.

Please let us know the dyno results!! Did you have a cat on your SLP shorties before? How about now - do you have cats on your y-pipe, or is it open?

cats? hmmmmm whats that? Actually im in need of a ypipe now. I couldnt get the bolt next to the block on the flange on the passenger side and it was on there pretty goo so i used a sawzaw and cut right before the cat. Im running open headers and i would not recomend it. Nascar comes to mind. LOUD. Some times in a particular spot in the revs it sounds good but 1500 rpm to 2k is so loud. Ill probably just get one custom made or find one with out the cat to go into the catback. After doin it and doing it wrong then right i probably could cut a couple hours of off it. ill post a couple pics.

"if its too loud your too old"

i kno what you mean tho, i had one of the collectors rust out on my K10 with long tubes and it was amazing loud for just one side, i had to shut the truck off going past a cop

That is my GNX clone. It's actually an 86 Buick Grand National, but upgraded with GNX parts. I've owned it since '92 and had modded it to the point of not being all to streetable, it's now under the knife to be de-modded somewhat in order to make it a nice cruiser capable of driving cross county with no worries or drama. It will still be potent, but instead of 130mph in the quarter it will be slowed down to maybe 118mph if required. The gorilla motor has been pulled, will be refreshed for use in something special.

                              That's a great 60'. What were your time/mph before?

The closest stats I have to those, is a 7.95@87 and that turned out to be 12.4 in the quarter mile. So I think yours would be right at 12.5 in the 1/4. The 1/8th mile mph for you seems to be a bit low for 360 RWHP (and that # is before long tubes right?). What is your shift point RPM? Are you taking it to the max in every shift point?
