My best friend bought the car and that got me interested in it. When he got ready to replace it I bought it and a love affair was born.

It started with a '68 GTO back in 1971 (gone with the first gas crunch). Then a new '78 Formula Firebird for da wife. Then a new '89 Mustang Convert 5.0 for me (post Volvo syndrome). And the current '94 z-28 after a test ride of a '93 over Labor Day weekend.

In between were a bunch of wierd stuff; Maverick, Gremlin, Monte Carlo, Bradley GTII XL 5000 Fastback, Chevy and Ford Van Child haulers, Volvo 760, Lincoln Continental (for the mother in-law), the wife's current burban. But nothing ever compared to the current go-fast Z.
The Old Guy! '94 z-28, m-6, t-tops, go-fast red, 316k. Now with '96 engine w/ Lt-4 hot cam, roller rockers, heavy duty timing chain, and Spec stage 2 clutch.

Well, my Mom was at home when her water broke. My Dad scooped her up, loaded her into his 67 RS/SS Camaro and tore through the middle of Detroit at over 100. I was delvered less than an hour later.

          The rest is history.

The day in 1969 when I saw my first Camaro Z-28 (green with white stipes as I recall) outside the base mailroom at Shepaprd AFB in Wichita Falls, TX. My first f-body was a 1975 base Camaro with a v-8 and three speed floor shift, then a 1978 base model, then a 1982 base model, then a 1990 RS, then a 1992 RS, up to my current 2000 Ragtop.

                Love these cars!!!

My uncle had a 1987 Trans Am. 305 5 speed t-tops blue tp with gray skirts. I used to go places with him. He loved to drive fast and that as a kid, and even now, just gave me such a rush. I loved the way the dash glowed with that orange hue. It made a real impression on me even until this day. Now my wife and I have a 1995 Formula w/ the LT1 and Ram Air. Gotta keep the tradition going. My 2 kids 4 and 6 yrs old love to burn out and drive fast with daddy! Cool, Thanks for giving me and opertunity to share my story with you guys.

How I got started down the F-body path

David E. Davis / Sports Car Graphic wrote an article in 1968 about a cross-country trip that he took in a Z-28. I still have that article. Bought my first Z in 1969. Bought second in 1986, another in 1995 and the last one in 1998. Still have three of them including the '69. First child came home from the hospital in that car.

I just wonder what GM will come up with that will give me that kind of service and be deserving of that kind of brand loyalty?

While I was in high school, in 1976, my friend bought a 68 SS/RS Camaro. We worked on it every day restoring the body and rebuilding the engine. In 1977, I bought a 67 RS convertible, my first car. I sold that car in 98. I have owned 9 Camaros, rode in cars down the assembly line at the Norwood assembly plant, and have been to the GM proving grounds and wind tunnel. It has been alot of fun, and will continue to be for a long time.
                            I have a 1980 Z28 convertible that I am restoring, and a 1993 Z28 Indy Pace Car, mint, with 5,ooo miles.
