is it possible to make a 94 Z28 pull 1 G on the skid pad? i want my car to handle like a roller coaster, i am not concerned with ride quality, i just want to be glued to the road. so has any one done it? and if so what did they do and how do you get a car measured?

Sure is.... easiest way is to lighten the car severely, upgrade the suspension and get ultra sticky tires. It's the weight that really kills the ultimate grip.

      Definitely.

Start with some 285/40/17 ZR Firehawks. Some STIFF lowering springs, fat sway bars, strut tower brace, gas adjust shocks, panhard rod, polygraphite bushings, etc.....

      And then hold on.

Man, you would think you can just walk into AutoZone and plunk down a couple hundred bucks and reach 1.00g, simple as that!! I guess I would have to say it is a little more difficult seeing as how the only cars I have heard of getting to 1g are the Z06 and the Cobra R. Heck, the highest rating I could find on the Porsche 911 GT3 is .99g. If they can't get that car to reach 1g, I wish you tons of luck in trying to get a f-body there...

couple hundred bucks??????? uhhh!!! the tires alone will be over $1200, springs another $300, bushing kit $250ish, panhard rod, strut tower brace, shocks, probably another $700. not to mention install. probably near $1000. so far were at $3450, now thats just a rough guess, and seeing as camaro's will pull about .86 on the skid pad any way. it seems that it a little harder that just ploping down a few hunderd (thats 200~300) in my book

I was being cynical...my point is that I don't think you will be able to get it to pull 1g, no matter what you try.

I got my 80 Z to do it with those very mods. An autocross buddy of mine had one of those fancy G devices like the car mags use.

Surprisingly, the best improvement I noticed was with the poly bushings and the sway bars. Stopping the body roll makes a big difference.

Mine was still a daily driver but like Joe said, If you started lightening the car, you could get even better. Remove the seats, interior, etc.

well i have decided that while the camaro is sleeping in the garage this winter it will be getting a full suspension, tire, wheel, and brake up grade. my goal is to pull an offical 1.1 on the skid pad, i have been reading a lot of articles and i think it can be done. well all know in the spring.

Weight, my friend is the enemy of turning. Get the weight down as light as humanly possible and as low in the chassis as humanly possible. Relocate the battery to the lowest point in the rear. Lower the car with good high quality springs as low as you dare. Hopefully you have a hardtop...... the additional flex of t-tops won't help. Go with Lightweight wheels too.
