  • oil pressure problem

ok i pull into work this afternoon and i go around a corner at 10mph and the check gauges light comes on and i look and my oil pressure went to 0!!! once i straightned the wheel it returned to normal(think round 40) and went around another and it did the same thing.

    edit

well left work(only mile from home) and it happened 3 times. it drops to 10 and quickly to 0 for about 3-4 seconds and then jumps quickly to 40. what in the world. weird

Did you check the oil level?

If its full, it may be a sign the oil pump pickup tube has fallen off. Did they weld it on when the engine work was done?

If the connection to the oil pressure sending unit is loose it would do that too. I would first check the wire going to the sending unit.

yep oil level is good. im not sure if they welded it on or not. can i see it without droppin the pan? also were is the sending unit? so i can check the wireing. thanks guys. ever since i put a wrench to this thing something else is always happining. (whoe is me) i should be able to build me a new one soon with all the experience im getting.

did it again when i went around corners like turning into the parking lots at about 10-15mph. it didnt do it when i was on the brake either.

On the back of the motor by the EGR. Somewhat of a pita to get to. Sounds like more of a pickup problem though if it only does it on cornering.

Drain the oil and thump on the bottom of the pan with a mallet or rubber hammer. If the pickup has come off, you will hear it "jump" when you hit the pan. The pan and pump would have to come off to resolve that problem.
