I've read on here that you guys suggest putting in a bottle of Duralube and then topping it off with either Trick Shift or synthetic ATF. My question is where do I pick up some Duralube? Is it a GM fluid or can I go to the local bonehead parts store (e.g. Kragen) and get it? Thanks guys.

Sweet, thanks a bunch. She gets her new clutch and new fluid on Mon., so I figured I'd ask. Which fluid would you recommend? I've seen a lot of people here say to go with the B&M Trick Shift. Btw, keep the Comp T/A! lolSteve

I'm running B&M trickshift fully synthetic with the Duralube ATF treatment. It is nice and quiet. It may be my imagination, but the feel in the stick seems smoother too.
My dad has been puting Duralube in his motors since the stuff came out. When I was 16, back in 1989 he took his 1987 Z-28 to a Valvoline instant oil change to get the oil changed. He gave them the usual bottle of Duralube to add in the oil. He was on his way out of town, driving from Madison, Wi to Manitowoc. When he arrived in Manitowoc and got out of the car he noticed the back of the car was dripping in oil. The entire bottom was also soaked. There was no oil left in the engine because the filter gasket was not properly installed.
He drove likely 100 miles with no oil in the engine. I was surprised he didnt notice the pressure guage at 0. He towed the car to a dealer to get it checked. Compression tests on all 8 cylinders were fine. any other engine would had seized tight after just a few minutes with 0 oil pressure.
I was sold. That stuff is amazing. We took that 5.0L motor out of that car with almost 100K to put in a new 5.7. We gave it to a friend who put it in his pickup truck. I havent talked to our friend in a couple years, but he always said that was a sweet motor. I bet it is still going.

Synthetic is your best bet. It doesnt break down as fast. That way, you can go longer between changes. There are other benefits, also that I am not to knowlegable of. Can someone enlighten us here??

I've heard people say that synthetic could be harder on the scynchros than normal fluid. Is there any truth to this?Steve
