  • Cd Changer Location

Does anyone have a pic where the Cd Changer is mounted and where the wiring harness is located for 2000 Camaro. I believe all 97-02 are located in the same place. I'm trying to add one and I can see where it is wired to rear of the head unit, but can't find the plug in the hatch area. A pic would really help. Thanks!

If you haven't checked the driver's side cubby in the rear trunk, I'd start there.

That's where my remote CD changer connector, though I don't have the unit.

There's nothing there but gray trunk lining. Is it under that stuff?

Remove the drivers side rear speaker panel, the wires should be tucked in there.

Thanks! There were tucked near the speaker. My question now is where does it go mounted?

In the cubby on the driver side. Your CD changer should have a wide L bracket. If not you can fab one up easy. OR you can mount it on the rear deck near teh tie down hooks.

I ordered the bracket set, but how does it exactly mount. Do you have a pic that you can send me?

Not sure if the Camaro ones are the same as on the Trans Am. I screwed the bracket down with some sheet metal screws if I remember right. Just make sure to put it all together to find the best location to mount the bracket.

Here's some pictures from the Trans Am.

Thank you so much. The brackets that mount on the changer would fit different positions so it had me confused. This really clears things up. One last question. You mounted the lower bracket first then put on the trunk lining on top of it? Thanks again.

That's correct. I believe my liner had the one hole pre cut already.

Perfect, same cuts on mine. New problem, I connected the cd changer, but it won't eject the magazine. If I close the door, it begins checking for discs, but stops and the radio displays Err. I open the door to it, and its starts making some sounds, but stops and doesn't eject the magazine. Any ideas? Thanks.

Don't know, any disks in the magazine yet?

Also is the head unit designed for the changer? My TA had the harness but the changer would not work with the original 97 HU with CD drive. Had to get a newer unit and then it worked.

Not sure on the magazine. It was already in the changer when I got it. It does work with the head unit, because the unit indicates the disks are being read, but then stops and displays "Err". I've checked some sites, and they indicate it may need to be repaired. I just purchased another one, but new this time. Going to see if I can get at least half my money back on the first one. Thanks for all your help. Everything mounted and connected just like your pics. Once again, thank you.
