  • Need Help, Clunking noise from floor board

Under WOT I have a clunking sound that comes from just beneath the center console. I have a 98 Trans Am with an A4 tranny. I just replaced the worn stock tranny mount with a new Energy Suspension mount but it did not alleviate the problem. Anyone else have any ideas what the problem can be.

    Thanks in advance.

Hooker LT's and Hooker ORY, the clunking also seems to feel like vibrating as well. Got any ideas?

It could be all sorts of things. U-joints, exhaust hitting the underside of the car, exhaust hitting the wimpy factory g-load brace, something misaligned or not properly bolted down, etc. I'd start with the exhaust, as my pipes were hitting the g-load brace. 4 bolts, problem solved

It really sounds like a rotating part, Ill get underneath the car tomorrow and look for any signs of anything. Thanks for the suggestions. I do appreciate it.

Check the u joint, they make vibrations while you taking off.

I was thinking that that might be it from the start, but when I was underneath the car today, everything seemed fine. The torque arm mount was extremely squishy and looked like it could use replacement, which I have sitting here, just not the time to replace it.

It only does it under WOT during 1st and 2nd gear.
