  • Traction Control

    Hello all-
My 02 SS does not have the ASR (or whatever GM calls it) traction control. Ordinarily I would not care-I have heard it over-compensates anyway-but because I have to drive my car in the winter (in Wash state), I started thinking it might be beneficial, at least in snow. This got me to thinking-how difficult/expensive would it be to install? Obviously, there would be components involving the engine, electrical, etc.-but would harnesses/mounting points already exist? Would it be a waste of time? Just wondering. I know most people who do have it autmatically switch it off every time they start the car, but again, I'm just thinking snow/ice.

    Thank you very much

I think mine has traction control ( I say this because a traction loss light comes on when I lose traction) and if I do have it I can tell you that it slips and slides just like any other real wheel drive vehicle. Lucky or me it only snows four or five times here in Oklahoma but last year we drove it through all of the snow storms and made it home safe. Although I hated every minute of driving it in those conditions. This year we will use the Durango and keep the T/A in the garage until the sun comes out and the snow and ice are off the roadways.

my best guess for you would be to get snow tires wtih the little spikes on them and not worry about traction loss and never stop rolling I have to have people puch me to get it started because my wheels just start spinning at idle and I have an automatic.
