  • Driver's side power window?

    New driver's side window switch.

Passenger window works great from either driver's or passenger's switch.

When trying operate the driver's window, all that happens is a "click" from somewhere above the brake pedal. No window movement.

Had the window motor out & checked it w/ 12v. Runs freely in either direction.

What is the cause of the non-operable driver's window?

It could be the switch itself. But you say you are hearing a click sound?

The window motors can run without load, even if acting faulty. That's because they have a thermal cutoff, either a copper strip or thermal sensor. When these strips or sensors wear, they fail to supply enough current to raise or lower the glass. You may need new motors, after all.

I just replaced both of my motors and everything's fine now.

You should try getting a new switch first; they're realatively cheap. If that doesn't work, try checking the plug to the motors to see if proper voltage is supplied.

    Good luck.
