how hard is it to change the steering rack?

I want to change the sttering rack in the 97 v6, and put a v8 one in there so I dont have to fight the steering wheel so much when I slide it round corners
Is it hard do do this, what would it involve?

Shouldn't be too hard. I think two bolts hold the rack on, then there are just the hoses, steering shaft and tie rods to deal with.

It's easy. if I remember correct, it took me about an hour. You'll need to have it aligned when done. No matter how careful you are, it's still not "right where it was before I started."

Thanks, I m going to change it next week. I hope the connections for the v6 hoses will be the same as the v8 and I ll leave the v6 hoses and steering pump. Then an lsd and this will be a pretty decent baby camaro . need a 3.42 at least, right now it has a 3.42 open diff , and maybe a v8 driveshaft if I can find one.
I have a 2.73 diff off the formula but dont think it would be good for the v6.

What do you think , have other ideeas how to make the v6 better?
So far its got koni shocks eibach pro line springs, decat, v8 exhaust, 265 17 on the rear, and 235 /17 front tyres. handles pretty good as it is
