In the coming months my rusted out flowmaster exhaust will be replaced headers back with a magnaflow system. I will be getting the high flow magnaflow cats. With oem cats I have seen a core charge. Not the case with the magnaflow system.
Will my old cats have any value? Should I request to keep them or let the shop dispose of them. I know they are made from precious metals which is why they are so expen$ive.
    Thanks

It depends on the going rate at that time and the size. For instance, a cat attached to a manifold on a Nissan Titan is worth about $25 at the scrap yards. The cat in the tube that bolts on after that point is about $75. It's all about how much material is in there that determines it's value.

True, it would be nice to sell it to someone in the future... but how much do you think someone would pay for a used cat? I brought a trunkload of old cats to the scrapper last time he gave me 40 bucks a pop...

I thought about recycling as well. Sounds like it will be worth it to hold onto them.
