How hard is it to take the cover off? Will I need to remove the entire cluster assembly off the car? Or is it possible to take the plexiglass off without removing the cluster?

When my car went back a few weeks ago (new fuel pump only lasted a few days, one of the fittings broke and the car would not start). So they replaced the entire assembly again, and the gauge does read somewhat better but not like it did before. The gauge is just below the F line when full / parked (but goes just above F when driving on a full tank of gas)

Never ran it completely dry (always headed to the gas station when it read 1/4, which in the past took 13 gallons when filled up from that reading). But I also heard it was bad to "top it off" as it can contaminate the EVAP canister.

usually when the pump kicks off, i add to the nearest .25. as for the dash cluster, i personally have never done it but i think all you need to do is pull the dash trim and the glass might have a few screws holding it

Just gassed it up while it was just below 1/2. Took 8.6 gallons and when sitting still, it was just below F after fillup. When I started moving, the needle went just above F (so I'm guessing the tank was not ccompletely full but very close). Pretty much stayed on or just above the F line, then went just below F line when stopping, then went back on the F line.

So I guess I am about to "leave well enough alone".
