  • Service engine light

    The service engin lite is on on my 95 z28, its from the previous owner and the computers at the chevy dealership he had his oil changes at is there a way to reset it ??

    The light is on due to a fault code set into memory. You should have the code read. If you want to reset it anyway, pull the PCM fuse in the fuse box for a few minutes then replace it. That will clear the code and the light. If the SES light appears again, you'll need to have the code read and fix the fault.

      if it's the same as teh 2000 model yea, just turn the key on (engine not running) and push in and hold teh trip odommeter stick for about 20-30 seconds and teh light should reset to off.

        i contacted the previous owner and he said it was set to come on when it was due for an oil change because he went to the same dealership to change it every time. idk if this is true or not tho thats why i figured id post it

            I've never heard of that with our cars. I really do not think that is possible. I could be wrong, but I am almost 100% sure. I'd say the previous owner was BSing you.

              Yea it sounded a litle strange to me too, (altho the car did pass nys inspection soo idk.) but i just figured id ask around since im not the all knowing f-body god, altho that would be a nice title to have

                Vettes have the oil life light that comes on at time that is calculated from actual engine useage, f-bodies didn't have the option.

                  i have a 95 z and i have went way over for an oil change and no lights come on its not a BMW now come on. He was definately blowing smoke up your tailpipe hahah
