I just got the car back from having the clutch done...and it doesn't feel right. The pedal is soft and I have to put the pedal almost to the floor for a full release. I haven't had a problem with engagement, but the feel and release point is starting to worry me. Thanks for the help guys and have a good Thanksgiving.

First of all, if you paid a shop to fix it this is not YOUR problem, it is theirs. Take it back. If tey refuse to correct it, stop the payment and report them to the BBB. That being said....
The release point should be close to the top. If it is not, the problem could be many things ranging from incorrect or misssing parts in the release linkage or a problem in the slave cylinder.
If it released at the proper point before taking it in, I'd say they definitely screwed something up.
Did they replace the slave cylinder? I've heard others mention that the replacement slave cylinder comes with a new pushrod that isn't always the correct length. You have to re-use the old one. There is also a little plastic hat that goes on the fork end of the pushrod. If that hat was not re-installed the clutch would not release in the proper pedal position. It's possible they didn't completely tighten the pivot T for the clutch fork too. (if they did it right they wouldn't have had to mess with the T)
That is about all I can think of, it is a pretty simple setup. You push the pedal which is attached to the master cylinder. The fluid pressure moves the slave cylinder which pushes the pushrod with the hat on it fitting into the clutch fork. The fork pulls the release bearing twards the transmission as it pivots on the povot T. The release bearing pulls the pressure plate fingers back and frees the disk.

Its probably not bled properly. I would take it back and have them bleed it for you.
As far as the BBB goes, it doesnt mean much to automotive shops, at least here in NY. The Department of Motor Vehicles gets serious action here in NY. I had them install a new clutch master cylinder that I got off of GMPartsDirect.com and they said nothing about a difference in length. They also had to replace the fork and pivotball since the retainer clips on the fork broke. Should all the 6-spds be close to the top or is 93 different? Thanks a bunch for the help guys. It doesn't have a problem going into gear...don't have to fight it or anything, just has a soft pedal and low release point.Steve

Yeah, what he said.
Only thing.. If they didn't open the system, bleeding shouldn't be necessary, should it? If they did open the system, Ex.. if they had to replace the slave cylinder, then they would definitely have had to bleed it.
When I did my clutch job, I never opened the system. No air ever got in it, so there was nothing to bleed out. I went as far as removing the actuator rod from the clutch pedal to the master cylinder to make sure there was no hydraulic preccure on the slave cylinder. I was thinking any pressure, even from the weight of just the pedal itself could cause the slave cylinder so slide out of its bore and allow air to get in the system. This may not have been necessary, but it was my first time doing it and I didnt want any problems.

Since they did open the system to replace the master cylinder, it is most likely there is air in it, as N2O suggested. That would result in a soft pedal, and a lower release point. All 6-speed cars I've driven release twards the top, and I've never heard anyone here say otherwise. Anyone??

All the ones I've driven as well were like that. Since the shop doesn't open again till Mon., would it be safe to drive it until then? I don't have any problems trying to get it into gear and it feels fine on engagement. Thanks for all the help guys and have a great Thanksgiving.Steve
