  • corvette Z06 rims for the camaro

can i get 17" corvette Z06 wheels for my car? i have a 1994 camaro Z-28. the problem with the ones i have found are that they are after market, and only available in chrome or polished aluminum. i want the ones that are the same color scheme as real Z06 rims, but that will fit the camaro.

    thanks

    rims

go to customwheelsunlimited.com and check out their selection of replica wheels. I bought my y2k c5 rims from them at a good price. I have 94 z28 and I just fit 17*9.5 in front with 275/40r17 and on the back I got 18*10.5 with 295/35r18.... it just fitts. looks great. offset is 56mm in front and I think 58mm in back. I am not sure about that back offset.

Might be a dumb question, but have you tried the GM factory parts site? They might be available on there.

AFS offers the Z06 wheels in either chrome or polished aluminum. But only in 18x9.5 56mm offset size.

Obviously, any GM dealer will be able to sell you the "original" finish ZO6 wheels, but unless you get them from one of the deep discount sources like Jason Cromer or Dal Slabaugh, they will be ridiculously expensive.

Other possible sources you might want to check:

          www.wheelcontact.com
They advertise "silver", polished and chrome Z06's.

The data I have from the April 2002 issue of VETTE magazine shows the Z06 17x9.5" wheels have a 54mm offset, for both OEM and repro versions. The stock 17x9" SS/WS6 wheels are 55mm offset.

If you do the math, that means the Z06 wheels will stick out about 1/4" further than the SS/WS6 wheels, and will have about 1/4" more backspace than the SS/WS6 wheels. They will fit perfectly. I've run 17x9.5" wheels with offsets ranging from 49mm to 56mm with no problems.

The 18x10.5 Z06 wheels have a 58mm offset. That puts the backspace at 8.00", and now you are pushing the rear of the tire into the inner fender liner. I have the 17x11 50mm offset ZR1/Grand Sport replicas, and with a 7.93" backspace, they took some serious hammering of the inside fender wells. The Z06's would take just a little more. Also have to cut the corner off the jounce bumper bracket. Or you could look at a very thin (3/16") spacer, and that would solve the problem. I'm not a big fan of using spacers in the rear though.

                        hey appreciate the info
and no I am not likin the idea of spacers either
I bet that the 18's would look good though

Perhaps then your expectations are not realistic. What you want essentially is a "custom" wheel, and you are upset because no one was able to magically hand it to you. You can't find a "stock Camaro offset" because there was never a STOCK 9.5" wide whell. If you are that adamant, case closed, unless you can get a wheel builder to custom make them.

On the other hand, I was able to cite the specific offset of the wheel, indicating that a 54mm offset wheel was available.... a 1mm difference, and within the range of 49mm - 56mm offset of 9.5" wide wheels that I have successfully used on my car with no hammering, no rubbing, no problems.

But apparently 1mm isn't close enough.

Then someone hijacks your thread by asking about 18x10.5" wheels, a size that does require some hammering - OR SPACERS, and you get confused.... I thought you were after 17's".......

                              Then you get huffy!

                              Sorry I bothered.
