Good Mechanic

Can anyone recommend a really good trustworthy mechanic in the New Jersey area? I live in Whippany so if anyone know anyone good, please share!

I hate taking my car to the shop... I have NEVER had a good expirence with shops. They all either...


1)Dont know what they are doing.... or

2)Know what they are doing, so charge you too much(And then sometimes still screw it up)


I now do everything possible to my car. I avoid shops like the plague!!

I would do it myself if i knew what the problem was. I know how to do the work, i just dont know how to diagnosis it, exspecially when there is no ses light coming on.

Thats what the forum is for. Throw a post up describing the problem. Chances are, someone else has had the same problem and can help you diagnosis it.

Are you looking for speed work or are you having a computer problem ? I have a friend that uses a place in Rockaway NJ . I will email him to get the name of the shop . I have a 79 T/A and I get all of my work done in Newark at a shop called Daves Garage . He is a very honest mechanic . I have never paid for anymore than what my car needed . Dont let the Newark thing scare you . Upon request he will lock your car inside at night if it cant be fixed in a day . I have alot invested in my car the work I can not do myself or I dont have the tools for , I then send my car to him .
