  • Fuel system problems

Fuel pump does not run with key on. No fuel pressure in the rail.
Fuel pump does not run when starting the car.
Start car with starting fluid, release key, engine will run but not idle until thoroughly warmed up.
Car is hard to accelerate and tends to backfire if throttle opened too quickly.

    Quite a list of symptoms!

    Ideas or suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Tom

So.... no pressure when cranking, won't start unless starting fluid used, What is the fuel pressure and volume that it pumps when running?

If the pressure is weak, im gonna say pump. If the pressure is good, im gonna say relay, because I have seen this on other cars before (but im not too sure how they wire it on the f-bods).

I'd have to say relay and/or BATTERY...after starting with starting fluid, you're getting voltage from the alternator, have you tried to fire it up using jumper cables etc.???

**-** BOOST, it's no replacement for displacement, and there's definitely no replacement for having both!

If it cranks well, shouldn't we assume the battery is ok?
