If nobody knows who you are, you could be the Pope for all who really care. What do you run? What suspension and rubber do you use to cut a 1.5 on the street? Unless you are running a freaking 9.90 and typically run for 5-10 large, I don't think you have to worry about people knowing who you are.

And I'm sorry that you don't understand the word 100% stock motor/suspension/tires/exhaust.

The STI we refer to is bone stock,if you can beat it with your car BONE stock congratulations,if you can only beat it because of your suspension mods and tires , he wins!!!!

                Stock

If I'm going to compare my car to another it going to be another camaro, or similar car.

Those cars have their place, just not in my garage. They belong to the newer generation, and will pass like like my afro and bell bottoms.

I get just as much fun out of my 88' Z for half the price.
F-bodiness, there's just no explaining it, it will still be here after all the others are gone. Just MHO.

I kinda disagree they are going to "pass like bell-bottoms". Afterall, it is the f-body that is no longer produced... and the AWD turbo 4's taking the country by storm....

PS -- you can drive them in the winter, too

Definitely an impressive car. A very poor choice for a drag racer, though. AWD makes it extremely difficult to go down the 1320 quickly. With normal drivers, I'm thinking a Z28 would beat the STi by about 0.7-1.4 seconds.

F-bodies gone? No longer in production yes, gone no!!

So what are all those cars that I see everyday every where I go, that look like F-fodiies? kit cars?
If they are kit cars then their not exactly out of product are they?

So what did you do with yours?

And as for turbo, maybe you should have said "it runs better in winter" which is something I don't see a lot of, mostly hot weather which is detrimental to a turbo, especially on the freeway parking lots, besides any engine benefits from colder air, but with the turbo it's really noticeable.
"Compressed air = hot air. So now you have three systems to maintain, engine, turbo, and intercooler.
I like to keep it simple, with rotating equipment the less the better.

if I need more power, I'll just displace more.

I sure we could keep this going, but I'm not interested. I'd rather hear about what you've done or would like to do with your F-body --- Oops, sorry, I forgot F-bodies are gone. No really I'd like hear more about your TA. That's what I really come to the forum to hear about and learn.

If you really came here to learn, then you should be able to take some criticism without getting defensive.

I can't believe you quoted me direcly in your post, and then twisted my words around. As you can see from my quote, I clearly said they are "no longer produced" and not "gone."

No matter how much we love our V8 muscle cars, you must acknowledge that we are in the minority... if we weren't, there would be a market for them... and these cars would still be arriving from the factory.

You may choose to keep things simple - by deplacing more... but not everyone sees it that way. A lot of f-body guys fail to realize that there is more than one way to skin a cat -- there is more than one way of making horsepower -- there is more than one way to make a car fast. Again, just because you choose to displace more, does not mean that you speak for the entire market demand.

These are all things for you to consider. You don't have to agree, and I don't really care if you do... just please do not question my loyalty to the f-bodies just because I acknowledge there are other cars out there that are currently fitting the market demand better than the f-bodies did...

                            Anyway... my T/A:
2002 WS6, black on black, t-tops, 6 speed. 13.3 @ 109 stock... I am kinda having problems with it now because after some pretty good mods, I have lost HP and I ran a 13.6 @ 105. My mods are: High-flow airlid, K&N, TByrne MAF ends, SLP bellows, Corsa cat-back, B&M sport shifter, MBA "WS6" engraved shift knob, PPC long tube headers, off-road y-pipe with O2 sims, and BFG KDW 275's...

When I get it back out for the spring, I will try to get my problems solved.

I re-read the thread and it wasn't stated that way. What he said was: (referring to the newer ricer type)
"Those cars have their place, just not in my garage. They belong to the newer generation, and will pass like like my afro and bell bottoms."

He was not referring to the f-body...... the referance he did make was that he'll keep his 88 and continue to have fun with it long after the others are gone.

Settle down guys, lets not make this thread go the way of other forums.

I know what he meant Joe, I just told him why I disagree... it seems like it is our cars that are the ones sharing the same fate as the afro and bell bottoms

Trust me, I didn't mean to get anyone riled up with that comment, it was only intended for discussion.
