I have a 1995 Z and i wanted to know if it were possible to replace the lt-1 intake manifold with the lt-4 intake and if so, what type of performance gains could i expect. And also if there are any places were the intake could be purchased for cheap

lt 4 intake manifold

Won't work.
First, the LT4 intake will not bolt up to the LT1 heads without machine work. There is an interference near the head valve cover rail. Either the LT1 head rail or the edge of the LT4 intake needs to be machined to clear the interference.
The LT4 intake manifold, in STOCK form, is virtually identical to the LT1 intake. The port opening size is even the same, although the LT4 head ports are 0.100" taller. The LT4 intake has more "meat" in the top of the manifold to allow for additional (aftermarket) porting to allow the intake manifold port to be made taller to match the LT4 head port. But the way it comes from the factory, there is not difference between the LT1 intake and LT4 intake, other than the red powder coat.
It took $350 of additional port work to get my LT4 intake to flow correctly with my heavilly ported LT4 heads. You can get the manifold for about $200 from the online discount GM parts suppliers, and I think Summit even sells it now.Fred
