  • Poly Trans mount for 96 Z28 same as 3rd gen?

Hey guys, My Tranny mount in my Z has had it so I want to replace with a poly one. The shop near me has one that says it fits third gens, but they have no numbers for one for a fourth gen. Don't the third and fourth gens use the same mount? I can't remember. I thought they did but I don't want to buy a part on something I halfway remember. Any help with this would be greatly apreciated. Thanks in advance to the F-bod Gurus......Later

I put a poly mount in mine and I hated it. Vibration city. I took it out a couple of weeks later. I couldn't stamd it. I went with the one for a caprice classic police car. Others have gone with the 1 LE mount.

Where do you get the police mount or the 1LE mount and how much do they cost?. I'd really like to fix it Saturday. So I'd rather not mail order it. Also I had a poly one on my Formula.....Wasn't too bad, vibration noise wise, but definately a bit more than stock. Oh yeah and are the third and fourth gen tranny mounts the same? Thanks again....Later

The only place I know of to get a police one or a 1LE locally is a dealership. I would advise not getting one from the local parts store. I did and it didn't last 6 months. It didn't have near as much rubber as the stock one.

It's been a while so I don't remember the cost.

http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/ has GM PART # 22201140 (1LE) for OUR PRICE: $30.90 but they are mail order out of North Carolina.

As for whether it will fit, the guy at the parts counter at the dealership said that GM hasn't changed their trans mount mounting pattern since like 1955. I don't know for sure.

I went to www.carparts.com and looked up a 1985 and it came back with 3 trans mount part numbers 2360, 2672, 2817. I then looked up a 1995 and it came back with 3 part numbers 2360, 2394, 2672. 2 out 3 are the same but not all so I can't say with certainty that it will fit but if I were a betting man I would bet it would.

My local dealership couldn't find the 1LE and
tried to sell me a regular trans mount
saying it was the only one available.

          My vibration issues weren't
as bad as yours. If you go
          with the poly trans mount,
you might as well replace the
torque arm mount with a poly one
          too.

          That'll tighten some things up..
