  • NFB: My first paint job

I decided to teach myself how to paint. What better to learn on then my winter ride. It came out O.K. but it does have its fair share of flaws. I think I could get this if I practiced a bit.

This is an 87 Omni converted to a shelby turbo 2: intercooled, cold air intake, 2.5 inch exhaust, performance logic module. Fun Car - 103 mph in the quarter.

    looks good

Looks pretty good for a first time painter . A little practice and you can do just about any car a paint job is only as good as the prep work you put in to it .
have you out run a ford lately

Very cool. I too have been thinking of doing this. I just don't have a place to shoot mine. Here is the funny part. I want to practice on my Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. Sister car to yours. haha

This I did learn. Wherever I skimped on the filling and sanding, it is very evident.

As you found out, the paint is merely color. You have to make it look killer in primer before the final color spray will look great. As was mentioned, it's all in the prep. Still looks pretty good though.
