  • ses light: threw low impulse resolution

i bought a 94z vert with 9000 miles. I have only put 100 miles on it since I bought it. Took it out today and it threw a light. I scanned it with my auto x-ray and it said low pulse resolution. It was a code 16. Isn't that the opti code? It came on after 10 minutes of driving and went off after 3 minutes. I took it out a little later and no code. If I start the car and let it idle for 5 minutes it starts to get a little stumble. When i am driving it I can't feel any probs. Any opinions? Sound like I need a new opti?

It isn't unusual to find DTC 16 as a "stored" code... I think the Opti will occasionally "burp" on startup and set the code. And, if you have DTC 16, and the engine is still running it has to be a "stored" code. If the code is active - no low resolution pulse - the engine will not run.

Clear it (pull the "PCM BAT" fuse in the panel at the end of the dash) , and see how long it takes for it to come back. If it comes right back, as noted in the posts above, the optical section of the Opti is taking a dump.....
