Someone attempted to steal Z28

Someone attempted to steal my 02 Z28, thankfully we're unsuccessful. They broke the left side of column, looks like the steering lock. I ordered Carquest #CSE1461 so hopefully that will fix it if anyone is familiar with that. Looks like they also stole the BCM, not sure why they would take it but I'm guessing they either needed it or has something to do with bypassing the anti-theft. Question is what years interchange with the BCM and will any model work or will I need specific features to be the same? Pretty sure it's the BCM, there is two plugs hanging below glovebox between the glovebox and the blower and has a empty slot where I think the BCM slides in. There is also 2 loose pins next to the big loose connector so I'm thinking they may use that to hotwire. I will get pictures and wire colors when i get back go my shop. I can't stand a theif. Any help is appreciated. I'm seriously winging it here.
