  • 93-97 Camaro lights

A friend of mine has a 97 Z and her headlight blew out. Well I got her old bulb and managed to get the bulb out of the housing. It appears to be a standard 9005 bulb even though it has 4351 stamped on it. There is an adapter ring that snaps onto the light housing and the bulb pops in and turns like a standard bulb. This lens is a Wagner lens. I looked at the ones in my car and they are labeled "guide". Never heard of them. I can not get the bulb out of it like this one. I'm planning on going to the store and looking at the Sylvania bulbs to see if I can get the bulb out like this one. Anyway it appears that you can just swap the bulb out if you have the Wagner housings. BTW there is goop in the housing so they are stubborn to get out.

The lights in your friends car are not stock. Like the "guide" lights in your car, Camaros came stock with glass sealed beam bulbs. Somebody replace the lights in your friends car with housings that use seperate bulbs.

I'd just get the number off the old bulb and buy a new one.

No the Wagner bulbs were not stock (I knew that) but they are listed as sealed beams. The Wagners are glass. The bulbs were sealed in with sealer. That white stuff you see in the picture is sealer. The bulbs are not intended to be replaced in them. As I said, the bulb had 4351 written on them and the housing. Here is a picture of it. http://www.claire-marie.net/Camaro_light_6.JPG . I took out the "Guide" bulb that is in my car now and it appears to be similae in that it is a bulb in a housing. The element has it's own bulb housing unlike the old sealed beams that don't.

Oh, and I'm headed to Auto Zone.

What about concerns about the wattage and wiring harness. The stock bulbs are 55 watt?? What are the 9006 bulbs....I believe someone had mentioned they were 100watts....

EDIT....nevermind looks like 9005 and 9006 come in a variety of outputs. I've been driving with sealed beams too long...don't pay attention anymore.

Just got back from Auto Zone. The Sylvania housings do appear the same as the Wagner. (The 4352 housings look like the Guides in my car. I don't think you can get the bulb out of them.) I looked at a 9005 bulb and the mounting flange is different. I'm not sure about the shaft size where the O ring is. Maybe with some silicone it might be fine. I just hate doing that.

mbigd73 did you get the bulb out of yours and try a 9005 bulb in it?

This is what I am trying to do. http://hometown.aol.com/pedidr2/headlightmod.html

Is this the Low Beam your talking about???? If so, then the appropriate replacement bulb would be 9006! (9005=High Beam) I have (had) the Stock Guide lights on my car and I managed to pry the bulb from the housing on sat. Unfortunately, this was after I bought the Autooptiks kit, but atleast I wont have to worry about silicone and stuff. Im currently running 80W and havent had a problem yet (5 Days).
