Just letting everyone know here that if a thief wanted to steal your Ram Air Hood and you have a stock alarm system beware. I was stationed in Korea for two years and moved to Ft. Hood in Killeen, Texas. Some people were telling me crime is bad here but to take a freaking hood!? So get this on 27 April some dude breaks into my driver's side window, releases my hood latch and un bolts my hood and takes my unlocked T-tops as a bonus. $4,600 in repairs for my insurance. That's why I got the SLP hood. I spent another $747.00 on a Prestige "City Tuff" paging remote start alarm system. Now anyone or thing that comes near the car it will give warning chirps. I spoke to the Pontiac body shop about the part and the authorities. The part does not have a serial number etched in it, it only comes with a serial#sticker which is taken off before painting. Also the authorities can't force a suspect to "prove" that a Ram Air hood is their hood. So pretty much I'm screwed on that issue. Some Alarm/car audio stores can obtain electric bolting mechanisms for people's hoods ($200-300), which replaces the mechanical portion. A thief would have to literally destroy the hood by the time they are able to get it off.
I just wanted to give fair warning to everyone, but hey, if you do get your hood stolen, the GM estimate for a new GM hood is $1810 where as SLP is $900+ includes shipping. So if it does get stolen then you may save on your deductable. Just don't tell your insurance company your getting a SLP Hood.
