f-bodies in snow--the positve side

After 10 inches of snow here yesterday, I can tell you that even a neophyte f-body driver (my son who has never driven in snow before today) can manage an f-body in snow even 10 inches deep. And, I seem to have had less of a problem than some of our four wheeler buddies this AM getting to work, based on teh 'idiots in action' I saw who were spinning wheels and sliding on starting, stopping, and turning. I will continue to say, it's not the car--it's the driver.

(Recognizing that our friends up in the norheast probably had trouble last weekend no matter what they were driving.)

I hope you weren't meaning to say he was driving through snow 10" deep!! The Camaro might just turn into a snowplow in that situation!

Here's my experience...
I didn't go out till Sunday, after it had stopped snowing. Snow plow in my complex left only a narrow path. I had about 6' of 12" deep snow behind my car...Oddly enough I had forgotten to get a shovel So I kicked around the snow and stomped it down a little to clear somewhat of a path. To my surprise the car pulled out of the parking spot without too much trouble. That was the hardest part. The rest of the roads were pretty much clear at that point.

The only thing I really fear now...aside from deep snow and ice...is a steep hill. I don't suppose there are too many of them out in Nebraska!

Agreed that a good driver can drive anything in the snow (FWD, RWD, AWD, etc) but there is a definate disadvantage to the RWD.

Agreed, though i am only 17 ( 18 in a month WOO HOO) i agree that its the driver not the car. i know that i have about 1/500th of the experience of the rest of you guys but apparently whatever dad did when he taught me worked. the only difficulty i have had is geting past that litle spot at the end of the driveway where the snowplows push the snow to. that and backing out of driveways gets a little interesting if its too deep. living in new york probablaly isnt the best for sum one who loves cars as much as i do though/

I've seen a couple older F-bods jacked up on 4WD truck frames with off road tires around Wisconsin. One of them was a 69. It put a tear in my eye.

if you get get a 300HP rwd car up my hill to my house in all the snow we had, id s$$t myself. Im much happier toolin along in my K5 blazer, than tryin really hard to unsuccessfully get my camaro up it.

I don't know what is wrong with yal that don't think that the camaro and firebirds are not good at running in the snow and mud and what not... Because I have seen plenty of base V6 and Souped up V8s in the snow... And , except for 2 that where flying at about 60-65 with slush and black ice on the road, get into any ditch or have to have any one help them out...

I have seen Front and Four wheel drive cars in ditchs and spinning and all...

But when it comes down to it...

So its all about the driver...
