does your aftermarket stereos allow you to use the steering wheel buttons?

I want a stereo that has:

    1) the cool red color
    2) takes up the whole space
    3) plays cd in the head unit
    4) works with the steering wheel controls.

is all of this asking too much or since I have that already in my stock unit should I just keep it.

BTW my bulb display is burned out is this an easy fix? I cannot tell what channel I am on.

    thanks,

    Jason

Thats a great question about the steering wheel controls, because I was looking at head units for my Comp T/A this afternoon, and didn't even consider / forgot about that.

      Anyone have any input???

      Thanks.

That's the newest design from Area 51. It's invisible and only works with voice commands.
97 Trans Am A4 more or less stock (Mods: WS6 Ram Air with Fernco & K&N, 12 disc CD changer, power antenna, SLP Fan Switch, LS1 Aluminum DS, Borla Cat back, McCord power plate, Spohn tower brace, Sirius, HID fog lights)

I kept my stock Delco/Bose headunit for the very reasons you list. It fits nicely into the rest of the dash, the color matches perfectly and nobody will ever steal it. Since it only has low-level outputs on it I spliced in some RCA jacks and wired up my 650 watt Soundstream reference 405. I replaced the door speakers with high quality components with crossovers and will be installing a 10" sub in the spring. It will sound as good as many competition systems, and looks stock.

Go to http://www.soundrepair.com. They fixed the CD mechanism in my delco/bose. I called everyone in the country I could find and their prices were half the rest, and it works perfectly now. I only sent him the actual mechanism from inside my unit(and said I was a dealer ), so I got an even bigger discount. 60 bucks to completely rebuild the CD player part. I had some light bulbs in the face burned out so he sent me 4 bulbs in the deal, and I soldered them in.

If you are up to the challenge, take your radio apart, and just send him the display that is burned out. It will cost less. If you aren't up to that task, just send him the entire radio. I love this radio now, it hasn't skiped once since the reapir, and plays perfectly clear.
