  • Another Camaro to play with!

I haven't been on the board in a couple of weeks so I thought I would post a couple of lousy pictures of my latest Camaro. I picked up a 68 Camaro with an Impala SS LT1/4L60E, it was converted to 4 wheel disc brakes, has ps and AC. It's a rust free CA car that was just painted. I'm in the process of replacing a leaky water pump and the opti(since it's already apart). The wheels are 16x8 Vintage Wheel Works V45 with 245/50ZR16 up front and 255/50/ZR16 in the back. I hope to get some better pictures when I can get the car outside, but here's a couple of garage pictures. They are lousy and the car looks waaaaaaayyyyy better in person.

Very Cool! I like to see late model drivetrain in early model bodies. You get the bennifits of fuel injection like easy cold starting and a whole lot better fuel mileage in the looks of the old iron.

It needs a lot of finishing up details, but that's what a project car is. I'm putting a 96-97 Camaro SS airbox setup on it to pull cool air from the cowl hood. I need to get the gauges hooked up somehow. I have to put some new rear leaf springs on it and figure out why the front end it sitting so high. I'd like to put some 4th gen Camaro seats in it for comfort too.

Could it possibly have big block springs in the front? I would think an aluminum headed LT1 would be a bit lighter, causing the front to rise.

I was thinking the same thing, but the Impala LT1 has iron heads so that shouldn't make too much of a difference. I need to see if the springs are seated correctly and if they are, then I'll either cut them down a little or get different springs.

Very nice. That is the color scheme I'm painting my 69.

It looks like everyone else beat me to the punch but those are probably big block springs. I've got a set of small block ones I'll trade ya.

Awesome. I wouldn't recomend changing the seats though. It just wouldn't be right.

I'd agree on the seats. Modern seats in that car just would not look right.

Definitely keep the original seats. They are leather correct? Sweet ride!!

The springs are shot in the seats so I would need to dump some money into them and I'd rather have something comfortable and something that won't burn your skin on a hot summer day. The seats are vinyl, not leather.
