    if you don't mind...
Ok say you were to recieve a 350 engine for free that all it needed was a rebuild. What would you do with it cause I know no one would leave it stock. I mean like parts wise what would you pop on her.

There are 4 scenarios for me:

      1) considering I was building a smog exempt car and had lots of cash, I would put some SB2.2 heads on it, fine tune it and get the most power as possible out of the 350 (considering it's a Gen I block).

      2) In reality where money doesn't grow on trees, I would probably bore it 0.030 over, maybe stroke to 383, and put on some mild to hot streetable heads (GM Fastburn maybe?). If you're building it up, smog exempt, 400 hp is a must.

      3) Considering if it's an LT1 Gen II block, I would probably put the LT4 conversion kit on it.

      4) If I don't have enough cash, then I would just rebuild the motor with the current heads/cam/pistons/crank, assuming everything is fine.

Make sure to do a thorough check to make sure any parts you're reusing do not have cracks, etc. Good luck.

I regular 350 that needs a rebuild isnt worth that much. If you look in the local classifieds - they are about 150 bucks. So, add about 150 bucks to your current rebuild dreams - and thats what you should do.

My point is that I wouldnt let a free engine, make me run out and rebuild THAT particular engine; the cost of the rebuild (even stock) will far outway the fact that you got it for free. Unless it is indeed an LS1, LT1, TPI etc....

Yeah, even a minimal build is going to cost you like $700. You could use the engine as a core for a Jasper Engine or something.

It's all about the cabbage my man. I've got 4 sbc's in my garage and every time I dream of building one it ends up going over 3 large.

          Summit 383 stroker kit $550
          Magnaflux and bore $250
          Cam $250
          Brodix Aluminum Heads $1300
          Headers/3" Exhaust $600

And that's assuming a Gen 1 block and doing most of the stuff yourself and already having all the tools you need.
