  • Camaro vs. TransAm

I always thought the cars were pretty much identical, with differences merely in appearance. After picking up the Camaro and driving it as of late, it seems almost like a different car. The Camaro seems to have more leg room, the seat sits a little lower as well. My T/A almost feels cramped in comparison. Both cars have manually adjusted seats, the Camaro has cloth, the T/A is leather. I do prefer the padded dash of the T/A. Anyone else have both cars that can share any observations?

I noticed some of the same stuff when I bought my 96Z. I had a 95 Formula before. The Z definately seems a little more roomy. I figure it is because the inerior body pieces are a little less obtrusive than the Pontiacs. You know the doors don't have those "speaker pods" etc. Also the suspension seems a little tighter on my Z than the Formula. I haven't really noticed much difference in seat feel except my Formula had Manual cloth and my Z has power leather seats. Still has that low arse scraping on ground feel that I love. I did like the AC vents better in the Formula. The small top ones on the Z move hardly any air. It seems like most of the flow comes from the large lower left vent where the formula had the three center ones and a the one on the far left. No big deal really though. I can't think of much else thouugh. I think I prefer the Z interior a little bit but they're both fine if you ask me, little differences really......Later

I agree with the different feel. My TA is power leather and my Camaro is cloth. I don’t know it could be the way its adjusted but I definitely feel lower in the Camaro. I agree with wolfman on the wrap arounds. The TA seats I can just sink right into and with the wrap arounds I feel like I’m just being swallowed into the car. I think a lot of it comes from the interior. The Camaros' interior is less obtrusive as Nice Guy said. I like the feel of the TA better. They definitely don’t feel the same.
