  • better hole shots

My 95 lt1 with a few mods (see below) has trouble planting its rear end to the ground during launches. The wheel hop is insane and i spin all of first, 3/4 of second, and sometimes the beginning of third(depending on temps). My question is does anyone know of any relatively inexpensive suspension mod that would help my car hook. Also the best tires for a sticky lauch.

Sorry officer, im not speeding... Im qualifying
Daily Driver:1990 ford probe 5 speed with like 13 horsepower at the crank.

What RPM are you launching from?
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

        Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

When you "launch" your rearend tries to push forward thus causing serious wheelhop. The idea is not to relocate your lower control arms but to strenghten them. The stock stamped LCA's flex under significant acceleration causing wheelhop. To significantly eliminate this, go with a boxed style LCA and not a tubular design because boxed designs are much better at eliminating wheelhop, trust me.

Lower control arms with firmer bushings, relocation brackets and a torque arm will help cure all that. As was mentioned, the stock parts flex causing the suspension to unload momentarily. They are adequate for basic use, but for performance use they can't handle it. At the very least, control arms and relocation brackets help considerably. I don't know about the boxed vs. tubular arguement.... I know guys in the 9s with tubular and they work perfectly.
