when iam driving with my lights on and i have to hit my brakes the lights on my car dim, the head lights and the gauge lights all dim. The battary in my car died so i thought that was it, so i put a new one in and the problem is still there, the new battary is keeping full charge and is not a problem. the weather is getting colder so i was just wondering if my car has some type of problem or if its just cold weather?

Could it be the voltage regulator in the alternator is shot? Drop in a new alternator and I bet your problem is gone.

If the alt dies, you will just drive until there is not enough voltage for the car to run, then you will stop.

Hopefully not in a bad place, in the cold, on the side of a busy highway, possibly getting rearended and injured. I've seen cars stalled at the roadside get slammed twice now. Not a good place to be.

I would recommend fixing the problem. Don't be a victim of yourself.
