What pisses me off the most is no one did anything they just stood there. If I was only there....

Sorry to say DJ Taso, but it's what's called the "bystander effect." It's a psychological phenomenon. Everyone says, "if only I was there..." but the truth is, had you been there, you probably would have just stood aside too

Ever hear of Kitty Genovesee (sp?)?

              The bystander effect IS real.

How many times have you passed by a motorist stopped on the highway thinking, "ah, someone else will stop,"?

Chances are, everyone else thinks that too, and no one does.

This has been concretely documented in psychological journals over and over. The bystander effect is completely real.

It certainly doesn't make me feel very good inside to know that I would probably just stand by, but I do believe in it. Maybe knowing about it can actually give me some motivation to step up if I am ever faced with that kind of situation.

It may be real, but not everyone experiences it. I have a tendency to snap in a situation and take matters into my own hands, NOT just sit there. DJ may also be that personality type, we dont know for sure.

It's like my adrenaline takes over when I see someone getting hurt, I just explode with energy and anger to help the victim.

This actually embarrassed me one time....

One time, when I lived in an apartment I heard the lady upstairs scream, followed by pounding and a male voice yelling. I snapped, and ran up the steps, openned her door and ran into her living room. She was standing on a chair, and her son was trying to catch a mouse. I was embarrassed. From my apartment, it sounded like they were killing eachother. She was glad she had a neighbor that was looking out for others, though.

                      She baked me cookies

My suspisions are confirmed by a friend of mine..

My friend Ben wrote: "That clip was from the Steve-O DVD. It was filmed in South Padre, and they called that guy 'The South Padre Gangster'.."

Steve-O is the guy in "jackass the movie", for those of you not hip to that stuff. He has many other DVD's out as well, and this is from one of those.

Here is a quote from Steve-O...
"Back in March of 2002 we brought a camera man to South Padre. His name is Mike Stief but we call him Carolla. He filmed the "South Padre Gangster" footage (Dunlap was filming it as well and we gave Dunlap's tape to the police to put that a**hole in jail). "
