Gears will wake the car up nicely. I went with 3.73s and am very happy. Go with 3.73 for an automatic, 4:10s with a stick shift. Long tube header are great too..... decisions, decisions.

That gear change would make a big difference and put a smile on your face. Don't forget you need a reprogram to go with it.

ya so the gear would be better than the headers first?

Go for the gear. I had a 2:73 and switched over to a 3:73 and wooha! What a difference! If it wasnt for my 3:73 I wouldn't be able to keep up with the LS1's.

It is an automatic, right? If so, it won't know the right time to shift without a reprogram. It would probably try to shift too late.

Do you just have a flowmaster muffler alone - no aftermarket intermediate pipe? If so, I would suggest getting a Borla or SLP Loudmouth catback...just the muffler alone is too restrictive. IMHO, a stock i-pipe would be the bottleneck especially if you throw on some headers + a y-pipe.

ya i only have the muffler
what do you bottle neck, come on dude im a newbie hahahhaha ya i think i will go headers and y pipe, do i still need a intermediate cat back pipe?

after the 373 addition what about a stall and which size,

                              redbird94,
bottleneck just means that the motor is restricted at the stock y-pipe. the air flo is not good for performance. if you add a 3" y-pipe like i did you will notice a huge torque difference but i had a cold air intake to go with the y-pipe at that time. i got a set of 3.73 GM motive gears like Wolfman suggested. i included a stronger T/A girdle and stud kit. like others have mentioned you will need to add a cat back system not just a muffler to get a performance difference look at my mod list. cold air intake + 3" y-pipe + gm motive 3.73 gears + slp loudmouth = lots of fun. oh and some good 1/4 gains. i hold of most LS1's unless they have a cam. my cam and r/r coming soon.
