  • F-Body Weight Reduction Ideas

I have noticed on several other f-body related forums that there are threads where members post their weight reduction ideas. I thought this would be interesting to start our own weight reduction thread. I have my T/A going to Jenny Craig right now!

Post some of your current weight reductions and/or ideas to lighten up our f-bods! It is also interesting to see what certain parts weigh.

I can't believe it myself, but so far I have pulled 829 lbs from the car and it will still look completely stock except for no rear seats and it will still pass Texas state inspection . If you want I can post a list of everything I removed from the car.

I don't think there are emissions tests in most of Texas... but am I to understand that you are running completely open exhaust... sans cat-back, intermediate pipe, AND cats? Sounds defeaning...

Gunter, there are emissions tests in Atlanta?
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.

                Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

I'm guessing that is "race trim"... some of that stuff probably goes back on once every year or two for testing?

Pretty incredible...to be able to take 850 pounds out of one of these cars! I can feel a difference in mine just loosing the spare, jack and tee-tops...I can't imagine what that's got to be like!

Flash - '97 Black WS/6, Intercooled Powerdyne 11# , LTCC Coil Per Cylinder Ignition, OPTI High Voltage Deleted, 160, Short Stick, BMR-STB, adjustable Shocks, PP+ w/scan, !CAGS, Flowmaster 3" cat-back... 43k miles as of Aug. 2006

**-** BOOST, it's no replacement for displacement, and there's definitely no replacement for having both!

There are emissions testing in some of the counties in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and the Houston area but not in any southern counties yet. I am in the San Antonio area so I am good.

                          Fast T/A........

                          Why not remove:

                          power window motors (go manual)
Joe, I thought about removing these but I thought what the hell, I will sacrifice a few pounds to keep the interior looking pretty much stock. Hey Joe have you heard how much weight is saved by converting to manual crank windows? Curious

Looks pretty much like a carbon copy of Colonels weight reduction list!!!!!!!
Thank you Colonel! I would have taken me alot longer to com up with alot of those ideas without the Colonel's list. There are alot of items on his list that I did not do. Maybe later

Kevin could you replace the side windows (plexiglass) or did I miss this on your list?

Or is this part of the safety inspection
