  • Intake Air Sensor

The last part of my air intake has a rip in it so I was looking for one on ebay and there's a couple different people selling a resistor that supposedly tricks the computer to thinking the air temperature is cooler and advancing the timing. There claiming 20+ hp. I'm guessing its a load of crap and wouldn't do much. Would there be any gain from it?

Crap... sort of. You won't gain 20 HP at your peak, but you will see a gain in part throttle. It will sharpen the throttle response for the first half of the throttle travel. The other part that is crap is you can do it yourself for a buck or two. Go to radio shack and buy 4.7K ohm resistors. Take one and bend it into a U shape and clip the ends a little shorter. Insert the resistor in to the end of the harness, cover it with a film canister and tuck it out of the way. This fools the computer into reading a 57º ambient air temp. Don't use this when the temps fall below 57º. This sensor is responsible for the rate of timing advance, not total timing. You'll also need to use premium fuel or you may get a little knock at light throttle.

I have seen anywhere from 4-7 rwhp on dyno graph comparisons.
