Finally got my car back today, with brand new kumho 275/40/wr17's and 17" corvette C5 rims mounted and balanced. Too bad the guy at tires plus informed me he could have gotten me the exact same tires for only $98 a pop, with free mounting! (i paid 107 each plus $42 shipping for all 4 ... + the $16 per tire i paid to get them mounted, i could have saved like 150 bucks... oh well)

And for those of you who wanted to see what those rims would look like on an fbody... here's some pics...

on top of the tech square parking deck (south building).

Anyway I took a few other pics while I was standing up there ...

Are these OEM wheels, or are they aftermarket? If aftermarket, are they 8.5 or 9.5 width?

What I want to put on my ragtop when I can scrape the bucks together.

They are aftermarket corvette c5 replica 17"x8.5" aluminum wheels, painted silver. Someone mentioned that the 275's on 8.5" wheels would look scrunched but I can't see anything wrong with them and it drives like like butter.

You can get them in chrome or silver, 17" or 18" (the 18's are 9.5" i think). real cheap! (compared to genuine corvette wheels anyway)

Looks good. Are those 18" rims in the rear? Did you get spacers? I've heard you can fit 18 inchers in the rear and with spacers they wouldn't rub?

No, they are 17's all around. And no spacers either, the offset on the wheels fits perfectly.

In a couple years when I have to buy really nice tires, i'll probably upgrade to 18's in the back. but these are pretty decent, for now.

Thanks for the pics Brian! I have been wanting to see a TA with C5's on it. I was worried about how the thin spokes would look and also how much gap btwn the top of the tire and fender lip. I'm definately going to do C5's. I haven't decided on the polished or chrome yet though.

How much of a cornering improvement have you noticed?

Quite a bit of one. The back end especially feels much tighter, and much less prone to slipping out. And even when the back end does drift out it feels much more controlled, I can increase and decrease drift easily without ever getting that out-of-control feeling.

Of course I can still spin the wheels with no problem in the lower gears, but tires aren't going to change that
