  • Quiter exhaust needed.

I currently have the loudmouth exhaust, which I like very much, but I have two small children that I have to pick up daily fron the baby sitter. The loudmouth is just too loud for the kids and I do not want to damage their hearing in any way.
What exhaust system can I throw on that will be nice sounding but not too loude for my kids? I like the sound of the 2 on the left SLP but I do not like that look on my TA.
    Looking for something around $300.
Anybody have the MAC aluminized steel system?

i have the loudmouth on both our LT1 cars....and thats louder than on the LS1 cars...and one of my LT1's is cammed out and stuff.......and its still not loud enough inside the car to damange a childs hearing.......unless the tops were off and i drove WOT the whole time..............

    just my two cents.

300 bucks wont get you much of a catback other than the loudmouth.

Don't get the Dynomax since you have the loudmouth on it. The Dynomax is made to hook up to the stock intermediate pipe and I don't think the Dynomax mufller will fit. Unless you still have the stock intermediate pipe.

I actually like my Dynomax. I't deeper but not real loud.

My 5 year old daughter loves my Loudmouth. And it's not THAT loud at "normal" acceleration.

Noise is all relative. For somebody that is half deaf it isn't as loud as for somebody with normal hearing. And then some people are very sensitive to noise.

Unless he or she needs a couple of opinions from others to justify keeping the LM to their wife or husband we should tell them the options they have.

Allthough I think they'll be hard pressed to find a good "quiet" cat back for $ 300.

As already mentioned the Borla would be a good choice but they are 600 $ +

Also keep in mind, the firing order of the LS1 is different than an LT1. LT1s are going to be a little louder so a LM on an LS1 doesn't sound the same as a LM on an LT1. IMHO, try to find a used borla. The sound and performance is tuneable with the various restricter plates. I do see them from time to time for around $300-$350 used.

get the hooker catback, it's quiet during normal driving, and cheap.

I've got one, had it for a year and a half and it's been fine. (on my LS1 car)..

                  good luck!

I had the Mac 3" CB on my 94 Formula. It sounded real good, but one of the pipes broke clean off the muffler from daily driving for about 1.5 years. Though to Mac's credit they sent me a new muffler.

It sounded good, not loud unless you're wailing on it.
