I refuse to even think about that..... I will most likely get sick. Especially if I total up everything from ALL of my projects. At least by doing all the labor myself I've saved quite a bit.

I think $17,000 or so with me doing everything but some of the A4 work. Expensive stuff is in the sig. Best deal was the blower kit @ $3100. A lot of the money I spent was for durability and chassis-suspension strength so I wouldn't break & bend. I still need a built shortblock & some wheels & slicks to complete the car, but I'm sick of throwing money at it and it seems fine just like it is.

Which version? I bought the car new in 94, and did 5 years of "bolt-on mods, including headers, nitrous and the infamous Electromotive "Opti-Eliminator/SDI". After dumping all that into it, I ripped it apart and started over with the stroker project.....

                Rough estimates are engine mods - $17K, computer $3K, exhaust - $1K, tranny/DS - $5K, suspension - $1.5K, fuel system - $1K, nitrous system - $1.5K, 12-bolt - $2.5K, wheels/tires (2 sets, street and drag) - $3K, interior/roll bar/instruments - $2.5K, hood/airbox/paint - $1.2K

Other than the engine, virtually every part was installed by me, so labor costs are minimized. Some parts were bought used, well under coast (coated AS&M's $175, MoTeC M48Pro $1,500, Gear Vendor O/D $1,500), and a lot of the suspension was supplied installed by Steve Spohn as "prototypes" and in return my my providing photographs and other data.

Oooops, forgot the cost of a 2001 Silverado tow vehicle and a trailer.....

But, when you think about it, other than the body and a small part of the interior, there are hardly any of the original parts still in the car. And its not even air conditioned, and doesn't even have a radio........
                Fred

                381ci all-forged stroker - 10.8:1 - CNC LT4 heads/intake - CC solid roller - MoTeC engine management - 8 LS1 coils - 58mm TB - 78# injectors - 300-shot dry nitrous - TH400 - Gear Vendor O/D - Strange 12-bolt - 4.11's - AS&M headers - duals - Corbeau seat - AutoMeter gauges - roll bar - Spohn suspension - QA1 shocks - a few other odds 'n ends. 800HP/800lb-ft at the flywheel, on a 300-shot. 11.5 @ 117MPH straight motor

For mods alone (all bolt ons) here's my list (if it says $0 labor, I did it myself):
                  Borla cat-back: $560 + $0 labor
                  Moroso CAI: $128 + $0 labor
Vortech Intake elbow: $0 (a gift from Steve 93Z)
                  75 mm MAF ends: $70 + $0
                  LT4 KM: $26 + $0
                  Spohn LCAs: $90 + $0
Spohn Panhard Rod: $0 (a gift from Steve 93Z)
                  1LE aluminum driveshaft: $245 + $0
                  Poly torque arm/tranny mounts: $35 + $0
                  NGK TR55 + 8mm wires: $66 + $5 for bandaids, $4 anti-infection cream for cuts, $60 in the swearing jar.
Transmission rebuild, strengthening, shift kit and 2200 stall torque converter: $1800 for everything.

For repairs due to an accident:
Rebuilt rear end, replace right rear disc caliber/rotor/pads/e-brake line, new axles, right side rims, and tires, bumper cover, right rear LCA, upper control arm, and many more: $6000 (paid by insurance).

So I guess minus all the routine maintenece and all the mods I forgot, I would say it has roughly a hair under $10k. If I'd Include the regular maintenence, I'll stick to what Joe says lol (although I know I'm still at the low end of the spectrum here!)
94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...

lol! I am the same way.
Maybe we can all try what Bill Lester did (Nascar Craftsman Truck Series driver). Got his degree in CS, worked at Hewlett Packard, got burned out, and is now a pro race car driver. I'm sure that'll bring more $$ in for lots of mods and maybe a new Porsche or 3.
