What can you guys tell me about the automatic tranny found in 95 v-8 camaro's? How much torque will it usually take before it explodes?

From the little knowledge I know... I think they're good for up to 400 hp max.
Your tranny is the 4L60E, the electronic version of the 4L60, which is similar to the 700-R4. Your gears are: 3.06, 1.625, 1.00, 0.7. Many things are electronically controlled by the PCM now, which means you can raise and firm up the shift points with a programmer (or if you decide to buy the adapter for a laptop and get LT1 edit or a program from pcmforless.com)
Your stock tranny mount doesn't quite cut it...you'll need the 1LE or a poly mount. Hope that helps a little.94 Black T/A GT, Advanced Induction 355, 3200 stall, built 4L60E, Moser 9", Baer Brakes, Shooting for 11s...

What Craig said.... and by the looks of your sig especially the N20, your 4L60E is hanging on for dear life. The 3-4 clutch pack is the first to go.

"what is the stock rear gear for a v-8 auto coupe from 95?"
2.73 standard 3.23 with the optional performance package.
"on my 94 Formula A4 all i have is a cold air intake, flowmaster muffler, a few small bolt ons and i have gone through 2 tranny mounts with only a 273 gear, is that normal"
It really depends on the mount. The ones from the local parts store are no where as good as a stock mount which aren't that great. There are several options here. Stock mount, 1 LE mount, I got one from a Caprice Classis police car, and a poly mount. Check out this picture. Note the part number for the 1LE mount if you decide you want that one. http://shbox.com/1/trans_mount.jpg
I got the police one because it interlocks and even if were to break, it won't let go of the trans. I don't know that part number for it. I have been happy with it. I got the poly mount before that one and I hated it. It was very noisy and vibrated the whole car. I could only take it for about 2 weeks and changed it.
