  • Missing When Warm

A guy that is staying at the hotel with me has a vette. I've been seeing him working on it for the past few days and went to talk to him. He says that he has been battling a problem with it missing when it warms up. He says that when going down the freeway at around 60-70 mph, he can feel a miss every once in a while. He says this only happens after it is warm though. I believe I've seen this problem before somewhere, but I can't remember where. It seems like every post I make, I have a friend that has problems. I hope no one here wants to be my friend Any help is appreciated.

What year is the Vette?? I got a couple of ideas, but need to know which engine is in question.

(My first guess would be a bad or sticking EGR valve...)

Flash - '97 Black WS/6, Intercooled Powerdyne 11# , LTCC Coil Per Cylinder Ignition, OPTI High Voltage Deleted, 160, Short Stick, BMR-STB, adjustable Shocks, PP+ w/scan, !CAGS, Flowmaster 3" cat-back... 43k miles as of Aug. 2006

**-** BOOST, it's no replacement for displacement, and there's definitely no replacement for having both!

I knew I was forgetting to ask him something. I was so interrested in trying to help with the problem that I forgot to ask him. As soon as he comes by I'll be sure to get the info from him. I know it's a 4th gen though.

I have seen this before with a bad ignition module or coil pack. The components heat up and progressively get worse and worse. I did one on the side of the road in a snow storm last year - started missing on my trip out to cleveland. By the time I got there, it died in the middle of downtown cleveland. I waited for it to cool, started it up again and drove to the parts store to pick up an ignition module and coil pack (shot gun the problem). That fixed it.

If the EGR was stuck open, the miss would probably be at idle.
